Riccardo Guarneri is the protagonist of the exhibition Luce che affiora (Arising Light), hosted at the Galleria Albani – Civic Museums of Urbino.
The project stems from a decisive encounter: at the end of the 1950s, during a stay in the Netherlands, the young Guarneri visited a major exhibition dedicated to Rembrandt’s late works. Confronted with those canvases in which light emerges from darkness, the artist experienced a revelation that marked the beginning of his painterly journey.
The exhibition brings into dialogue works by Riccardo Guarneri from the 1960s to the present day—testimony to a coherent exploration of light, mark, and transparency—with a selection of original engravings by Rembrandt van Rijn, the undisputed master of chiaroscuro.
The exhibition will open on December 20 and will be on view until January 25, 2026, at the Galleria Albani – Civic Museums of Urbino, Via Giuseppe Mazzini 7.
