Andrea Mastrovito has been selected as the winner of the competition launched by the Junta Constructora de la Sagrada Família to create a new sculpture of the Lamb of God, which will be placed at the center of the cross crowning the tower of Jesus Christ—the highest point of Antoni Gaudí’s iconic basilica. Alongside four other European artists—Edoardo Tresoldi, David Oliveira, Gonzalo Borondo, and Jordi Alcaraz—Mastrovito was invited to reimagine one of the most emblematic symbols from Gaudí’s original design.

His winning proposal, praised for its radiant transparency and expansive formal tension, merges spiritual depth with a contemporary aesthetic. Visible from the outside, the sculpture will become a defining element of the basilica’s final construction phase. This major recognition affirms Mastrovito’s position within the contemporary art landscape and contributes to a renewed dialogue around sacred art in the 21st century.
