Galleria Frittelli Rizzo presents Exercises on Past and Present Memories, a solo exhibition by Spanish artist Antoni Muntadas (Barcelona, 1942). Active for decades between Europe and the United States, his practice is configured as a critical device aimed at intercepting, investigating, and making visible the linguistic, cultural, and ideological codes within which transnational and post-colonial logics, as well as migratory and diasporic practices, intertwine in a continuous se- mantic referral.<\/p>\n

Long interested in transnational dynamics and processes of cultural translation, Muntadas has de- veloped a methodology that exceeds the biographical dimension in order to reflect on forms of poli- tical and geographical displacement and their historical implications. At the core of his research are tensions generated by asymmetrical exchanges and power relations that are often invisible, yet deeply embedded in social and cultural structures. The consequences of mobility, hybridization of contexts, and migration do not appear as mere iconographic subjects, but rather as tools through which past and present can be critically interpreted.<\/p>\n

The works on display, inspired by the complex colonial history of the Philippines, fully align with this trajectory. They are the result of long-term field research conducted across various Asian contexts and question the modes of construction and transmission of knowledge, while examining the impli- cations of the displacement and decontextualization of objects and individuals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
