His artistic practice explores the evolving social landscape of our time, with a particular focus on urban anthropological phenomena and the creation of new participatory processes. His work aims to establish common ground between art and geopolitics, presenting artistic practice as a form of civic poetry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">He teaches in the two-year programme in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies and in the MA in Photography and Visual Design at NABA \u2013 Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. He was one of the founders of the collectives Multiplicity and Zapruder. His works are part of numerous Italian and international public collections. Over the years, Jodice has exhibited in major international institutions, including Tate Modern in London (2007), the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid (with a solo exhibition in 2011 and a group show in 2018), the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland (2017) and the Museu Nacional dos Coches in Lisbon (2020). In Italy, Jodice has also exhibited in equally important venues, including the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art in Turin (2015), MAMbo in Bologna (2010), CAMERA \u2013 Centro Italiano per la Fotografia in Turin (2016) and Museion in Bolzano (2009, 2011). The artist has also participated in three editions of the Venice Architecture Biennale (2003, 2006, 2010), consolidating his multidisciplinary presence on the artistic scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">His main projects include <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">What We Want<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">, a photographic atlas exploring the landscape as a projection of people\u2019s desires; <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">The Secret Traces<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">, an experimental urban archive of shadows; and Citytellers, a cinematic trilogy on new forms of urbanisation. His most recent works\u2014A<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">tlante, American Recordings, West and Rivoluzioni<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2014explore the future of the Western world. In 2022, with the support of the Italian Council, he completed the project West, a decade-long investigation into the imagery generated and disseminated worldwide by American history and the reasons for the collapse of this empire through the study of its symbolism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">In 2023, he took part in the exhibition <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Altrove\/Elsewhere<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">, curated by Bartomeu Mar\u00ed at Galleria Michela Rizzo, and in the solo exhibitions <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">West<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and Galerie Ch\u00e2teau d\u2019Eau in Toulouse (France). This latest project \u2013 <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">West<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> \u2013 after Toulouse and Naples, will also be exhibited in Washington and San Francisco.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Francesco Jodice is one of the winners of the fourth edition of Strategia Fotografia 2024, a public call promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, with the project <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">What We Want<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">. This call provides funding for the acquisition of contemporary photographic works to be added to Italian public collections, with the MADRE Museum in Naples specifically receiving the work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">In 2025 Jodice took part in the 18th Rome Quadriennale, <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Fantastica<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, presenting the film Rivoluzioni as one of the 54 protagonists selected by curator Emanuela Mazzonis di Pralafera; and the photographic exhibition <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">WEST<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> at the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco at INNOVIT, with 18 works exhibited for the first time in the United States. Finally, on 16 October at MAXXI in Rome, he presented the documentary <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Oltre il confine<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">, featuring images by Mimmo and Francesco Jodice, written and directed by Matteo Parisini, which recounts the dialogue between the two photographers\u2019 visions, spanning family universe, experimentation and urban culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-14527-0-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div class=\"hide panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-14527-0-0-1\" id=\"sito\" ><div class=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\">\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.francescojodice.com\">www.francescojodice.com<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Francesco Jodice (Naples, 1967) currently lives in Milan.
